A rural tourism project on the hill above Foz do Arelho, followed from the first concept to the day-to-day running of the house. Five suites, five apartments, a spa and a heated infinity pool looking over the Óbidos Lagoon.

Working alongside Vânia, project manager at Independer . problem solver, we were part of Hillside House Suites & Spa from the beginning: the concept for the property, the construction and rebuilding works, and then the interiors, where we designed the decoration and custom furniture for the rooms and common areas. Each suite and apartment is named after a Portuguese city and decorated around it.

The brand came out of the same process. We designed the logo, the visual identity and the signage system for the whole property, and then every piece of communication that followed: the website, the presentation brochure, the printed material for the rooms and the spa, and the photography of the finished spaces.

After opening, the work continued on the operations side, with reservation management and guest support, which kept the design decisions close to the people using them every day.

The project started as our curricular internship at Westheimer Portugal, the owner of the property, and the identity and signage work became the subject of our Master’s dissertation in Graphic Design at ESAD.cr, Design de identidade e sinalética: desenvolvimento de uma marca hoteleira (2019).
